United Way of Peel Region

Programs
• United Way of Peel Region does not offer program/client based services. We provide sustainable funding to 54 agencies, 109 programs in the community who do offer programs and services.

Volunteer Opportunities
• The volunteer opportunity is for students who wish to run student led fundraising campaigns which will support the United Way of Peel Region Community Fund. The information available is to inform students on how they can initiate an independent volunteer opportunity and customize it to meet their own needs, creative ideas, and time availability.
• As these are independently run campaigns, and are not managed by United Way of Peel Region, there are no age restrictions, screening processes such as interviews, reference checks or police checks. In addition, United Way of Peel Region is unable to supervise such student led fundraising campaigns, so students are encouraged to partner with other student leaders, school administration or staff.

Peel Youth Violence Prevention Strategy:
Services and Supports for Youth Working Group

Programs
• Peel Youth Violence Prevention Strategy is a region wide collaborative which also does not offer program/client based services.

Volunteer Opportunities
• The volunteer opportunity is for students to become involved in the Services and Supports for Youth Working Groups i-TEAMS (information-Teens Engaged in Addressing Missing Services)
• The role of this position will be to act in an advisory and informative capacity in partnership with the Services and Supports working group.
• The time commitment will be monthly 1 hours meetings, after school
• There is no screening required to participate in this opportunity, however an application must be completed and i-TEAMS program will be supervised by the Services and Supports for Youth Working Group.

ACCESS Charity (Allowing Children a Chance at Education with School Supplies)

Services/Programs
• ACCESS sends funds to the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Colombia to benefit students and provide them with education opportunities.
• Programs include stocking classrooms with school supplies, purchasing uniforms for needy students, providing transpiration to school, and more.

Volunteer Opportunities
• Students volunteer to hand out flyers in public areas, contact companies for donations, host raffles in their schools, and start blogs on the ACCESS website and Facebook group.
• Students sign up for general contacts to be assigned to tasks when needed.

Required Criteria:
• Must have completed the YES program (14-16 hours)
• Must be between 13-18
• Must be a resident of Brampton
